Canadian science fiction writer brutally arrested by US border guards. Now, at this point some of it is one person's word against another (the arrest itself is not under dispute). However, I'm tired of hearing people say something to the effect of, "Well, maybe he wasn't subservient enough." You know what? Being super-polite is a good idea, but you can't legally be arrested for failing to do so. Or even for being outright surly. Freedom of speech, people.
